NYLX Safe Space Policy

At New York Lindy Exchange and all associated activities, we are dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. We want everyone to enjoy the music, dance, and community without fear of harassment or discrimination. To ensure the well-being of all attendees, we have established this Safe Places Policy.

1. Zero Tolerance for Harassment:

   - Harassment of any kind, including but not limited to verbal, physical, or sexual harassment, will not be tolerated. This applies to all attendees, including participants, spectators, instructors, and event staff.

   - Harassment includes unwanted advances, inappropriate comments, touching without consent, and any behavior that creates an uncomfortable or unsafe atmosphere.

2. Inclusive and Respectful Behavior:

   - We expect all attendees to treat each other with respect and courtesy. Discrimination or prejudice based on race, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.

   - Dancing is a consensual activity; always ask for and respect your dance partner's boundaries.

3. Reporting Procedure:

   - If you experience or witness harassment or any behavior that makes you uncomfortable, please report it immediately to one of our event organizers or staff members.

   - Reports can be made in person or via the designated reporting channel to our Safe Spaces Coordinator, Jesse Stanley, LMFT (licensed therapist) and can be reached if needed at 832-736-8409 (txt or call).

4. Response to Reports:

   - Event organizers will respond promptly to any reports of harassment. The safety and well-being of all participants are our top priority.

   - Actions taken in response to reports may include verbal warnings, escorting the offending party out of the event, or involving local authorities if necessary.

5. Confidentiality:

   - All reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. 

6. Consequences:

   - Attendees found to have violated this policy may be subject to immediate expulsion from the event without a refund, and further actions, including bans from future events, may be taken as deemed necessary.
