The NEW YORK LINDY EXCHANGE (or NYLX) was started in 2023 in order to create an annual international dance exchange celebrating & teaching Lindy Hop, from the city of its birth, and 100% produced by local NYC dancers.

Now entering its third year, the exchange continues to bring together internationally known dance instructors, award winning swing bands, while paying homage to our lindy hop past.

NYLX 2025 will be a 3 day long weekend from Oct 3rd to 5th with workshops in the morning and afternoon, followed by social dances in the evening at iconic venues evoking the history of the Big Apple. This year’s theme is "Lindy Hop: The Past is Prologue." As William Shakespeare once said, “What’s past is prologue,” meaning that past shapes the present and future.

An integral part of the NYLX, is honoring our lindy hop past. In 2023 we proudly celebrate the lives and legacies of dancer such as Sonny Allen, Barbara Billups, Crystal Johnson, and Sugar Sullivan. Each was given an official NYC Proclamation by the Mayors Office. In 2024 we honored Harlem icon, Lana Turner. We plan to continue this with honorees at  NYLX 2025.

Bands for the social dancers include some of the finest for swing dancing in the world such as Gordon Webster Band, Eyal Vilner Big Band, Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists, and Hot Toddies Jazz Band.
